Know The Signs

Get Your Heart Pumpin’

According to the American Heart Association, getting your heart rate up gives your heart so many great benefits, from weight management to stress reduction — and there are dozens of activities you can do to get it moving!

Whether you try a structured exercise program or make working out part of your daily routine, the physical activity you do can really add up. Pick up the pace at home, at work and at play and you can get your heart pumping harder every day! Even activities such as gardening, housekeeping, taking the stairs and walking the dog can be beneficial.

If at all possible, try getting at least 30 to 60 minutes of moderately intense physical activity most days of the week. If it’s more convenient, you can break up your workout time into shorter, more frequent sessions. Any amount of exercise you can get is better than none, so don’t give up!

A quick way to gauge your health is to determine your body mass index, or BMI. The range for a normal, healthy BMI is 18.5 to 25, while 25 to 30 is considered overweight and over 30 is considered obese.
